A warm welcome from the citizens of the Tokachi Sub-region to all the teams, crews, officials and marshals – a welcome party was held at Kita Aikoku Service Park, at the night of September 22nd (Thu). While they will start competing each other at the very next day, Friday 23rd, they are all friends today and enjoyed a BBQ outside.
We filmed interviews of several key crews during the party. Enjoy!
Among rallying teams and fans in Japan, Tsumagoi village has been famous as a host town of two major rally events – one is “Rally of Tsumagoi”, and the other is “Montre in Tsumagoi”. The Rally of Tsumagoi, which has been very popular as rare full-scale rally in winter in Japan, is now promoted to “FIA International Rally of Tsumagoi”.
Yes, Rally Hokkaido and Rally of Tsumagoi is the only international rallying events in Japan, and this makes Tokachi sub-region in Hokkaido and Tsunmagoi very special.
Mr. Sakae Kumakawa, the Mayor of Tsumagoi, visited our rally today, with his usual smile, eagerness and friendliness. After observing our Service Park, he visited the Rally HQ and our Media Centre. When one of our staffs asked for him, he gave us his usual speech in the Media Conference stage.
Starting next year, Monre in Tsumagoi will be promoted to international rally, and all of the three international rally events in Japan will jointly make up a new “FIA Japan Super Rally Series”. Our ties with Tsumagoi became even more stronger, with the visit of the mayor.
